Desserts in 10 Minutes to Satisfy Your Cravings

Desserts in 10 Minutes to Satisfy Your Cravings

Life is short. Eat dessert first – or at the very least, make it fast. When you have a weeknight craving, spontaneous guests are arriving in twenty minutes, or you decide that tonight simply calls for something sweet, there’s plenty of treats that can be made in a pinch. No three-hour baking marathons. No obscure ingredients. Just delicious desserts, all ready in 10 minutes or less.

The best part is that most of these use pantry staples you already have on hand. And for the ones that call for a little baking, we'll show you how to fast-track things with an air fryer for quick, energy-efficient baking that doesn't heat up the whole kitchen. We've also pulled together some of our favourite baking mixes and fillings to make things even easier when you want a shortcut without sacrificing flavour.

Donuts

Homemade donuts in 10 minutes are possible with the right mix. Baked donuts are lighter than their deep-fried cousins and come together in a fraction of the time – especially when you reach for a quality mix instead of messing with ingredients from scratch.

Ingredients (for 2 people / makes ~6 mini donuts):

Method:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (or your air fryer to 160°C). Grease a donut pan lightly with butter or cooking spray.

  2. In a bowl, combine the donut mix, egg, milk, and melted butter. Stir until just combined.

  3. Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each mould about two-thirds full.

  4. Bake in the oven for 8–10 minutes, or in the air fryer for 6–7 minutes, until golden and springy to the touch.

  5. Allow to cool slightly before dipping in your favourite icing and finishing with a generous shower of sprinkles.

The air fryer is a gamechanger for baked donuts – it cuts cooking time by a few minutes and delivers an evenly golden result without heating up your whole oven.

Simple Tiramisu

Person preparing dessert in jars on a wooden kitchen counter with ingredients and utensils.

Tiramisu has a bit of a reputation for being fancy, but a simple version comes together in under 10 minutes and tastes incredible. No baking required, no fuss – just gorgeous layers of coffee-soaked biscuit and silky mascarpone cream that you'll want to eat straight from the glass.

Ingredients (for 2 people):

  • 8–10 savoiardi (lady finger) biscuits

  • ½ cup strong brewed espresso or coffee, cooled

  • 1 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional but recommended)

  • ½ cup mascarpone cheese

  • 2 tbsp icing sugar

  • ½ cup thickened cream, whipped to soft peaks

  • Cocoa powder, for dusting

Method:

  1. Mix the cooled coffee and liqueur together in a shallow bowl.

  2. In a separate bowl, fold the icing sugar through the mascarpone until smooth, then gently fold through the whipped cream.

  3. Quickly dip each biscuit in the coffee mixture for a second or two per side – you want them soaked but not soggy.

  4. Layer the soaked biscuits in the base of your serving glasses, then spoon over a generous layer of the mascarpone cream.

  5. Repeat with another layer of biscuits and cream.

  6. Dust with cocoa powder and serve immediately, or pop in the fridge for a few minutes to firm up slightly.

Presentation matters here. Our glassware collection has beautiful serving glasses that'll make your tiramisu look like it came straight from an Italian trattoria.

Rocky Road

Rocky road is the dessert equivalent of a "no wrong answers" policy. Chocolate, marshmallows, biscuit, lollies – the more, the merrier. This no-bake treat sets in the freezer while you're finishing dinner, making it the perfect last-minute dessert.

Ingredients (for 2 people):

  • 150g milk or dark chocolate, melted

  • ½ cup mini marshmallows

  • ¼ cup crushed biscuits (Malt-O-Milk or Digestives work perfectly)

  • ¼ cup of your favourite lollies or confectionery

  • Optional: handful of roasted peanuts or shredded coconut

Method:

  1. Line a small tray or loaf tin with baking paper.

  2. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth.

  3. Stir through the marshmallows, crushed biscuits, and lollies until everything is well coated.

  4. Pour into the prepared tin and smooth out the top.

  5. Pop into the freezer for 5–10 minutes until just set.

  6. Lift out, slice into pieces, and serve.

The secret to the incredible rocky road is using brilliant combinations of lollies and confectionery. Mix and match to your heart's content.

Frozen Yogurt Bark

This one looks wildly impressive for something that takes approximately three minutes of effort. Frozen yogurt bark is refreshing, customisable, and beautiful when decorated mindfully.

Ingredients (for 2 people):

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt

  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • Fresh fruit (sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, kiwi)

  • Toppings of your choice: granola, shredded coconut, chopped pistachios, edible flowers

Method:

  1. Line a small baking tray with baking paper.

  2. Mix the yogurt, honey, and vanilla together until smooth, then spread it out onto the lined tray to about ½ cm thickness.

  3. Scatter your fruit and toppings across the surface, pressing them gently into the yogurt.

  4. Place in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to set fully (if you want it ready in 10 minutes, pop it in for 8–10 minutes and eat it slightly soft).

  5. Once set, break or cut into jagged pieces and serve immediately.

For the finishing touch, edible flowers look gorgeous scattered across the top of your bark. They add a little something special that makes the whole thing look like it belongs in a café window.

Cheesecake Jars

Two glass jars with dessert on a wooden table

No-bake cheesecake in a jar is the ultimate quick dessert – individual portions, no slicing required, and you can customise each one if you and your partner or guests have different tastes. A digestive biscuit base, cream cheese filling, and your choice of topping is all it takes.

Ingredients (for 2 people):

  • 4 digestive biscuits, crushed

  • 2 tbsp melted butter

  • 125g cream cheese, softened

  • 3 tbsp icing sugar

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • 3 tbsp thickened cream, whipped

  • Topping of choice: jam, fresh berries, lemon curd, caramel sauce

Method:

  1. Mix the crushed biscuits with melted butter until it resembles damp sand. Divide evenly between two small jars and press down gently to form the base.

  2. In a bowl, beat the cream cheese, icing sugar, and vanilla together until smooth and fluffy.

  3. Fold through the whipped cream until light and combined.

  4. Spoon or pipe the cheesecake filling over the biscuit base in each jar.

  5. Top with your preferred topping like a dollop of jam, a handful of berries, or a drizzle of caramel.

  6. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready.

These are endlessly adaptable. Lemon curd gives a zesty tang, fresh berries keep things light, and a swirl of caramel adds an extra punch of sugar for those who like it extra sweet.

Mug Brownie

Person holding a coffee cup with a view of an apartment building and street.

The mug brownie is a kitchen miracle. Fudgy, chocolatey, and ready in under five minutes, it's the dessert equivalent of a warm hug.

Ingredients (for 2 people / 2 mugs):

  • 4 tbsp plain flour

  • 4 tbsp white sugar

  • 2 tbsp good quality cocoa powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • 4 tbsp milk

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 2 egg yolks

  • Optional: 2 tbsp chocolate chips, a spoonful of peanut butter or Nutella

Method:

  1. Divide the recipe in half for each mug. Add the flour, sugar, cocoa, and salt to each mug and stir to combine.

  2. Add the milk, oil, and egg yolk, then stir until smooth and no dry flour remains.

  3. If using chocolate chips or a flavoured filling, stir them through or press them into the centre.

  4. Microwave on high for 60–90 seconds – start checking at 60 seconds. The brownie should be set on the edges and remain slightly gooey in the centre (that's the goal!).

  5. Allow to cool for 60 seconds before eating – the mug will be hot.

If you want to skip the measuring altogether and guarantee a brilliant result every time, the Bakels All In One Choc Chunk Brownie Mix is a pantry hero. Just follow the pack instructions, adapt the quantities for a mug portion, and you've got foolproof brownie perfection.
