Kaiserschmarrn – A Healthy and Easy Recipe

Do you know the most famous story about the origin of the Kaiserschmarrn, when the pancake went wrong for the royal chef when he was preparing it for Emperor Franz Joseph I? So he broke the unfortunate pancake into pieces, added a handful of raisins, and sprinkled it with powdered sugar. A new dish named Kaiserschmarrn or Emperor’s Mess was created.

Now we are here to reveal to you another variation that is the same Emperor’s Mess, but without a bad conscience, which you can also prepare quickly and easily.


Healthy Kaiserschmarrn Ingredients:

  • Coconut oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup egg whites
  • 0,5 cups of milk
  • 1 banana
  • A teaspoon of baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons of flax seeds (optional)
  • Cinnamon (optional)
  • Other fruit of your choice

Instructions:

  • Step 1
Take a bowl and in it mix together eggs, egg whites, milk, banana, cinnamon, and flax seeds to bring the ingredients together.
  • Step 2
Pour everything into a pan greased with coconut oil. You can also sprinkle fruit of your choice on top.
  • Step 3
Bake on moderate heat until the underside is golden brown. Just like baking a pancake. Then carefully turn it over with a blunt spatula and wait for it to brown on the other side.
  • Step 4
Tear it into small pieces and carefully turn them over.
  • Step 5
Bake until the pieces are golden brown on all sides.

Serve on a plate and sprinkle the Kaiserschmarrn with cinnamon or pour different healthy toppings on it. You can also add a few drops of different flavours to the mixture or sprinkle some edible toppings at the end to make it truly special.

You can also pour the resulting mass from the above-mentioned ingredients into various bakeware or cake tins and place them in the oven at 200 degrees for about 45 minutes, or until it is nicely browned. You can spread cottage cheese mixed with Greek yogurt on top or decorate it nicely with piping. That way you get healthy pastries or muffins.
